Mr. Free Teens 2009 attends Law Camp

Recently, from July 12-25, I had another exciting opportunity for the summer. It was a privilege and honor to attend The 2009 National Bar Association Crump Law Camp at Howard University in Washington, DC. I would have to say it was an amazing experience. Since the age of 14, I knew I wanted to become an attorney. Im happy I finally found something that interests me. At first, I wanted to become a police officer, then lastly a private school teacher but after all though out, it really wasn't what I wanted to do. By me attending this camp, I learned lots of information on Law, procedures, how to argue my point, how to debate, skills and so much more. Each day we had class in which we taught Law material. There were two classes, The Defenders, & The Advocates. I was apart of The Advocates in which I learned about intentional torts such as emotional distress, and the civil side. I also learned how to impeach and do objections. The Highlight of the program was The Evett Simmons Mock Trial Competition, in which we actually went in a real court room and did our cases. Finally, it was just awesome. I met so many law professors, lawyers of big corporations, The President of The District of Columbia Bar Association, Judges, and The Founder. Also, I loved the trips to all of the museums, and historical places. And the best part was going out to dinner every night to a new restaurant. By me attending this camp, it showed me that I could be whoever I want to be in life. I just think LAW is so empowering. My dream is to attend New York University (NYU), and also NYU LAW SCHOOL. And one day to become a District Attorney.
